Founded in 2004, Bilitis is the oldest LGBTI organization in Bulgaria. Bilitis began its activity as a self-support group of lesbians and bisexual women and gradually has included trans and intersex people in its leadership. Our approach takes into account the interconnectedness between gender, race, class, sexual orientation, gender expression, ethnicity, religion, disability, and other factors, which shape the social status of the individual.
Today, Bilitis is a champion for mobilizing the LGBTI people in Bulgaria and an advocate for LGBTI rights.

You have free time and want to make the best of it? Want to be of service to the LGBTI community in Bulgaria? Want to learn more about the Bulgarian LGBTI movement and become an active part of the change? Then join our volunteer program and help us improve the environment for LGBTI people in Bulgaria!

As a volunteer you can support us in various fields: event organizing, photography, graphic design, animation, writing texts and articles, translating from and into English, volunteering at Rainbow Hub, social media and more.

As a volunteer you can:

Get a training in your chosen field of volunteering
Develop your skills and experience in your chosen field of volunteering and in LGBTI activism
Participate in local and international trainings and seminars on LGBTI and feminist topics, as well as LGBTI international camps.
Get certified and recommended by Bilitis for your future professional development
