Not Just Words (Building a national movement against hate speech that triggers Antisemitism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and other forms of intolerance)

Main goal of the project “Not Just Words“, funded by the European Union’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme (2014-2020), is to improve collaboration between communities, that are affected by hate speech and to create a national movement of allies to prevent and combat antisemitism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia and other forms of intolerance. Strong focus of the project will be the inclusion of youth in this process.

Activities
– Exploring the human face of hate by conducting interviews with individuals, affected by hate speech and making videos of 5 life stories, as well as Interviewing users of hate speech, who are not members of radical groups, showing the deeply rooted fear of the unknown as a trigger.
– Awareness campaign with target groups youth and movable middle: Short film “The face of hate” disseminated via YouTube and mainstream media channels, as well as social media campaign and open forums in 5 major cities.
– Targeted work with journalists to build counter-narratives, which stop the dissemination of hate speech, resulting in a follow-up media campaign.
– Building resilience in affected communities and strengthening collaboration among them via workshops for young people (LGBTI, Jews, and other local minorities). Final project forum, gathering communities and allies to create follow-up plan for the no-hate movement.
